Well, cell phone use in Tx is a nightmare. To anyone concerned, I made it out of Houston.

I wasn't going to make a decision or leave until Thursday, but my boss and co-workers (who seemed to be totally over-reacting) told me to go home and finish packing when they did Wednesday at 9 am.

So I followed the NASA/LM protocol for securing all my work stuff and computer, headed home to grab my guitar, laundry basket of random stuff, and Godzilla, and left by 11:00. The drive was awful and I nearly lost it.... and my drive was only 9 hours to dallas.

A good friend left Galveston at 1 pm, and it took him over 36 hours to get to Dallas. I can't imagine!

I was started to get a bit stressed out at the thought of losing everything, of my hometown being destroyed. Ehhh... but to put things in perspective: nothing has happened yet, we can't know how terrible or not terrible the hurricane will be, I have the most important things safe here in Dallas: my life, my kitty, and my girlfriend, and as far as I know friends and family are going to be safe as well.
